Ok then - what are the top signs of an over indulged child of ALL ages?

Just reading the other thread about whether or not we are all too soft on our children, got me thinking.

My DS is being evaluated for SN (tomorrow, actually! am nervous!) He certainly has something "wrong" or different about him that is not in question but over the last year we have had to constantly re-examine him and ourselves to try to differentiate between SN (of the ASD type) and good old fashioned terrible twos and sometimes naughty behaviour.

He is extremely bossy, and also very very kind and loving. I adore him but he can be a tyrant. Some of this I know is down to his inability to cope with some things, but I am always worrying it is also my fault.

So what do YOU see in a child that flags up "no positive discipline happening there!"

I don't think I do see things in a child that make me think that tbh, especially in a child that young.
I do see things in a parents behaviour that make me think that though but I wouldn't immediately assume that poor behaviour is the parents fault (although it may well me).
I have been a teacher for 13 years though so mMaybe I am less quick to judge than most! I know there are plenty of parents out there that assume that their childs good behaviour is 100% down to their excellent parenting and nothing to do with the inherent personality of the child.
I'm not saying that parenting has no affect, far from it, just that it isn't the whole story and blanket judgements are at best unuseful!

thanks. Mine is such a tyrant he's just been seen by CAHMS today but it is looking like he has no SN but big attachment issues/anxiety. I just know some people think I spoil him. But I really dont think I do. Although sometimes I wish he would take no for an answer and I wonder if I should handle that differently.
