Protecting children on the internet

I'm sure this has been done before, but I have no idea where to search.

DD1 is six. She uses the PC for watching iPlayer (CBeebies or CBBC only) and for games on a few sites that we have bookmarked for her.

So far, we've just policed her computer use by being in the same room and keeping an eye out that she is only on the sites she's allowed to use. But school have now taught her to use Google, so I feel it's time we had parental controls of some sort on the PC, in case she stumbles across something dodgy.

Can anyone recommend anything? I don't really know where to look for something reliable.

Who is your internet provider? Often they will offer a complimentary parental control package that you can tailor to suit your children. We use Virgin's PCGuard for anti virus and parental controls and it's excellent.

Can you tell I go straight to Talk .

Will also look into what our ISP offers, but it's quite a business-orientated package, so I suspect they won't be geared up for it.
