My only tip - choose your battles. DS has gone to bed tonight fully clothed because he refused to take his clothes off and put his PJs on. I'll go up shortly and get him changed in his sleep.

I worried to begin with that by letting him have his own way sometimes that he would expect it all the time. But it doesn't seem to work that way. It seems that by giving in when it really doesn't matter (like I reasoned tonight) then he understands that when I stand my ground I must mean it. We seem to get fewer stand-offs now. Non-negotiable things are: brushing teeth (although since getting these that's less of an issue), holding hands when we're by a road, erm, I actually can't think of anything else! I'm sure I'm not that liberal...
