Tonight, I have given up on my chilren, told dh to take over, and I have been on the sofa, trying not to cry

I have had enough of them both.

Ds2 (4) has been naughty and unmanagable. I have been struggling with his behaviour since I picked him up from the nursery at 4pm, he has just NOT done anything I have asked of him, and battled me on everything from washing hands, to not throw food on the floor, pick up the food he threw down, come and get dressed for going out etc.

They both screamed the house down as I was on the phone to my sister while at the same time I was trying to clear up after dinner and bake cupcakes for tomorrows event at preschool.

I nearly threw a tray of 40 cupcakes out of the window in sheer frustration.

The kids would NOT move away from the kitchen, and kept playing between my legs as I was walking back and forth clearing the table, carrying plates, etc.

DS1 (7) eventually went out, but came back screaming as his friends were naughty. His friend came and knocked on the door and complained my son had been throwing stones at them, and hit a neighbours car.....

I ranted and raved, then gave up, and said to dh "The kids are yours, I will stay on the sofa till they are in bed, I can take no more".

Haven't we all done this - It is a normal part of being Mum. A lovely dh will be secretly thinking 'no wonder, I couldn't do it' and allow you to have a break.

Wine and chocolate help.

Do not under any circumstance feel guilt - it's a wasted emotion.

weaselm4 · 16/06/2009 22:00

I don't blame you! I've sat on the sofa while DH took over for MUCH less than the afternoon you've had.
And I'm very impressed that you only nearly threw the cupcakes out of the window.
Hope you have a good night's sleep and a better day tomorrow.

Put your feet up and have a glass of wine.

We have all been there.

You know, I just poured into the sink a bottle of Rioja a few moments ago. I opened it rather hastily on saturday, and managed to NOT get the cork out, and I took a small fork (it is very daint, and the handle is in varnished walnut)and pushed the cork in. (classy bird, me) I was just about to pour out a glass, when I discovered that the cork, and the fork with the varnished walnut handle had been inside the bottle, since saturday.

I was concerned I might get walnut varnish poisoning from my wine.....

Instead a ate 3 chocolate cupcakes.

Yep, sadly chocolate works better for me also..

Another thing to blame DCs for!

I am off to bed now, need my sanity sleep. Tomorrow is another day... Night-night, hope you have a better day tomorrow (and also that the walnut handled fork survives its bath). You know you love them, really, dontcha?!

bruces · 16/06/2009 23:10

QuintessentialShadow · 16/06/2009 23:48

you are so posh.

nevergoogledragonbutter · 16/06/2009 23:50

go on, get your posh self off to bed.

DidEinsteinsMum · 16/06/2009 23:52

Am feeling your frustration. Tonight during the normal bedtime arguements I walked out. Left ds to my mum. Came back when he was asleep. Today it was just too much.

No Guilt, its self preservation and in their best interest in the long run Make it more of a habit You need a break to.

I have burnt socks to go clear up now...

QuintessentialShadow · 16/06/2009 23:55

yeah, I guess you must be pretty posh to die of walnut varnish poisoning, from wine. Posh people do that.

DidEinsteinsMum · 17/06/2009 00:01

...

Had a bit of a meltdown early when sis borrowed socks without asking... its a long story and on another thread... (in chat)

That might explain why ds never has any socks

chipmonkey · 17/06/2009 00:27

QS, perfectly normal! My life used to be like yours......

Then I had ds3 and ds4 and now it's way worse!
