Do some siblings just never get on?

My two Dss are 4 and 2 and are lovely apart but just horrendous together. They honestly seem to hate each other and I find myself despairing of finding ways to stop them fighting over every single thing. I have just finished reading Siblings Without Rivalry, which has some useful tips, but is quite difficult to apply to such young children, I think. Anyway, my question is, if siblings don't get on at the outset, can you really change it, or do some siblings just not like each other? I don't think I can face another 15 years of constant in-fighting!

Not sure if this will help but my best (man) friend and his brother hated each other until we were about 17. Then they tolerated each other. And now they're best friends and younger brother was best man at older brother's wedding just a few months ago.

I read that book too, but my dcs (the 6 & 7 year olds) are pretty awful together.

My 2 aren't great either. DD is 6 (7 in Aug) and DS was 4 last week. The only time they get on is when they are up to no good or making an almighty racket!! She is so good with other little kids, but it breaks my heart to see her being a cow to her little brother.

My mum grinned at me and said "all that goes around, comes around..." no idea what she meant (I have a little brother too)
