Evening all

Scorps-I use a bucket with a mesh in and put a sanitary towel with a few drops of lavender or tea tree oil inside the lid to keep whiffs at bay

I have been camping too - any fluffy news??!

4andnotout · 05/07/2009 23:11

Scorps - My DD1 is 18months and TBH I don't find tots bots absorbant enough now. If you are going to get some nappies for her I would get something a bit more absorbant TBH.

By the way - I have 2 in cloth with a 16 month age gap and its fine. I actually find it works better with 2 in cloth as I have enough for a wash most days so less nappies hanging around.

4andnotout · 05/07/2009 23:47

Jenny how was the camping?

Scorps i have 2 in cloth too with a 13m gap and i agree with Jenny it makes it easier to get into a routine

Its the orange one - clementine - a bit bolder - am about to place order if you want pink. Let me know what sizes you want. Have more patterns coming They are flying out.

4andnotout · 05/07/2009 23:52

I really want a small and a large pink please When do you want me to pay?

I have a purple BBH bamboo if anyone wants to buy one?

OP posts:
Octothechildherder · 05/07/2009 23:52

monkeyfootdesigns.com/catalog.php?category=28

Have white lava, sky wallflower, fly by day coming in - it looks like the pink is in stock from my stock lists.

Octothechildherder · 05/07/2009 23:54

Okay will add to order now.

Order through the webshop - they will be about two weeks. Add note to order that you want pink not orange! I will know its you anyway

4andnotout · 05/07/2009 23:55

Oh if i wanted to use one instead of a nappy bucket would i need large or xlarge?

OP posts:
4andnotout · 05/07/2009 23:55

I will be in france then for 3 weeks, perhaps i should order when i get back..

OP posts:
Octothechildherder · 05/07/2009 23:57

ooh extra large definitely - do you want one for france? - I have a clem boho here and a pod posey. I have ordered the pink ones for you anyway - will reserve for you.

Octothechildherder · 05/07/2009 23:59

I def think the extra large bags are a way forward instead of buckets! If you don't soak you can store them in a nice bag which could be hung up rather than an awkward shaped bucket which looks completely drab!

Octothechildherder · 06/07/2009 00:00

Off to bed after exhausting camping trip!

4andnotout · 06/07/2009 00:01

I was going to get it for france but i can wait until i get back, i will be washing every night when im there just so i don't have nappies hanging about in the tent. The pod posy is lovely but i think i have fallen in love with the pink boho, im thinking xlarge instead of bucket and the small for carrying my wetted wipes in my bag.

Camping was fab. Might go again with DH this time on wednesday! Waiting to see what the weather does! Would rather wait a couple of weeks but then it is the summer hols so gets expensive. DH works shifts which is why it is an odd day to go! Was hard work I guess but worth it. I loved spending quality time with the DC and no housework etc to worry about. Mainly want DH to go asap so I can see if he likes it to know if it is worth investing in our own tent and equipment.

4andnotout · 06/07/2009 00:05

Im glad you enjoyed it, how did dd1 sleep?

Scorps: Meant to reply to your message on Saturday, but was busy! I'm someone who loves Bamboozles! They are my nappy of choice. Benjamin wears them nearly exclusively - and he seems to be most comfortable in them too (he's got eczema and some nappies make him a bit too hot & itchy). But he seems quite happy in the Bamboozles. And the size 2 can last a long time, as Benjamin is nearly 2.5yo and weighs over 33lbs - and still plenty of room in the size 2s. I always feel that Tots Bots (or similar shaped nappies - tho I'm quite keen on Bamboozles and Cotton Tots) are a very good start for someone trying cloth nappies for the first time. At least you know they're going to hold everything in! Pockets can be unreliable (in my experience) though there are good ones out there. But it can really be hit and miss until you find the ones that suit your baby's shape! We've got on best with Fuzzibunz over the long term and Bumgenius are good too. But really, I always think it's best to start with fitteds and then explore from there! At least you'll have something that you know works! And Benjamin is quite a heavy wetter too! He can often consume 2 tall beakers of juice before 11am, and although the nappy is soaked after all that, it's still not leaking! I've always used Motherease Airflow wraps, as Benjamin doesn't really suit the shape of many other wraps. But the Tots Flexiwraps should be good. However, if you have any issues with leaks/fit, then I'd suggest trying a ME Airflow, just in case it's the shape of wrap. But have fun and I think you'll love the Bamboozles! I certainly do! Just wish I had a big stash of them in size 1s for Clement (12 weeks old) - but we get on quite fine with Cotton Tots, so that's what he nearly exclusively wears and they're great. Never a leak from them!

JennyPenny22 · 06/07/2009 10:01

Rachel - I am amazed you can still get them to fit at 2.5years! Are they all the same? I have some size 2s but they are quite old, but they just about go round Elouise at 18 months and the applix is bearly done up on her. Not sure they would stay on for long with her running about.

She is still in bed at the moment .

Think the idea of going camping on wednesday is going to be out the window as it is forcast to rain all week . Trouble is, I know it wil be peak season after next week .

Octothechildherder · 06/07/2009 10:52

4andnotout - there are no pink boho left in small - but there is one xl so have ordered it anyway.

thebluefoxategreensocks · 06/07/2009 11:07

jenny: yes, it seems the Bamboozles do vary a bit. I think different lots of bamboo wash up differently, and some seems to shrink a bit more than others. However, all mine are secondhand, so never know if some were boil washed perhaps? But certainly some of my size 2s are bigger than others! I think the later Bamboozles seem more roomy than the older (made in Scotland) ones. To be honest, my favourites are the coloured ones that say "made in Turkey"! LOL They seem a bit more fluffy (even tho well used) and are quite generous in size. (Tho for cotton nappies, I prefer their oldest ones!) Also, I have a couple of poppered bamboozles which are bigger still. But yeah, it's possible the ones you have are a bit more "shrunk up" than most of the ones I have.

BTW, was going to say, fess up, who on here got the bamboo Babybeehinds on UKPL for ONLY 3 quid each???! I'm convinced that it had to be some of the BBH lovers on the thread here, as you all seem to be able to sniff out where they are! LOL Anyway, someone got a bargain, whoever snapped them up!

thebluefoxategreensocks · 06/07/2009 11:09

jenny: daughter still in bed at 10am?! Wow, you're spoiled! LOL Abigail is up at about 6:55am every morning and makes sure her brothers wake up soon afterwards too! Tho I'd always be glad for Benjamin to get a lie in occasionally, as he is up in the night a lot with his eczema.

Cies · 06/07/2009 12:11

Hello ladies,

Hope you don't mind me butting in. Would you mind giving me a bit of advice? I see that you are all experts on cloth nappies. I'm expecting my first and am keen to use cloth. I've been looking around a few websites (twinkle on the web, nappylady, usednappies) and have been advised by a few people. However, I'm still not sure, because there are SO MANY out there!

I live in Spain so can't have a real life demonstrator come around and see me, so it'll have to be all virtual.

Which nappy would you recommend?
I live in a flat with ample drying space outside on a line and inside in a kind of enclosed terrace.
I would prefer a no-fold solution because I want to make life easy.
I'm not that bothered about the nappies looking cute, just functional.
Cost is an issue - I'd rather buy something that will last me through if this is a viable option.

One site recommended Motherease Onesize with Motherease Airflow wraps. What do you think of these?

Thanks so much in advance.

4andnotout · 06/07/2009 12:15

Hiya the motherease onesize are ok but i find they are not absorbant enough as baby gets older.

OP posts:
BaronConker · 06/07/2009 12:40

If it's warm enough to dry things quickly,I'd go for tots bots bamboozles (made of bamboo - they take a while to dry but they're fine if it's warm). If you look at the tots bots website they have sets of seconds that are fairly bargainous. I reckon these are a pretty fool proof option, as they won't leak, they're good value and they're easy to use. Lots of much more adorable options out there but if you're looking for funcionality that's my recommendation! You'd have to buy two sizes, that's the only issue, but I'd agree with 4 that MEOS are a bit thin... Motherease Sandy's are also really lovely, you can get bamboo ones and they're poppered instead of velcro, but again you'd need more than one size.
