4 - what a bummer. i have loads of UD stuff & wonderoos you are welcome to hide under!

Throw poopy nappies at the 3 of them - although that could be a little harsh on the postlady.

BaronConker · 04/07/2009 11:33

4 - that sounds well out of order, if she wanted a shoulder strap so badly she should have checked to see if there was one before buying it! Grrr.
I have a nice postlady who leaves my parcels on the doorstep for me, or under the recycling box if it's raining! What a star...

Scorps · 04/07/2009 14:19

Hello

I'm pg with dc4 and have never used cloth nappies, although i really want to this time.

Local retailer is having a special offer week - £165 for 15 size 1 bamboozle tot bots & 5 flexitot wraps, and 15 size 2 bamboozle tot bots and 5 flexitot wraps, plus 10 fleecy liners. (all coloured ones)

Is this good? I do have a tumble drier or will probably pop them on radiators as baby due Xmas day and heating will be on anyway that time of year.

Thankyou

I myself wouldn't buy loads of one type of nappy until you have tried them out as all babies are different and suit different nappies, a nappy advisor can show lots of different nappies and they sometimes have a hire kit Congratulations on dc4 by the way, i have 4 dd's (7,4,21mo,8mo) and it is lovely!

Thanks for all your kind messages im feeling better now

Scorps - my feeling is that your baby will grow out of size 1s really fast, so I'd go for some preloved size 1s off here (there are LOADS of people trying to offload their teeny baby nappies!) and then maybe invest in size 2s new if you think you're going to carry on with cloth.
HTH, but it's just an opinion!!

Scorps · 04/07/2009 14:24

Ahh i see, though i kinda want to catch the offer if its as good as i think it is? My local nappy project never have trial kits spare, i asked last baby too.

Scorps · 04/07/2009 14:26

thankyou BARON My babies are ususally well into *8bs at bbirth, last one 8lb 9.

4andnotout · 04/07/2009 14:28

Well bamboozles are a safe bet if you have a tumble dryer as they can take ages to dry, i would probably just get size 2's and nippa them for a newborn until s/he is big enough for the applix.

OP posts:
Scorps · 04/07/2009 14:31

Nippa? Sorry

Um, the money is fine, the £165 for all that i mean. is that a good offer?

4andnotout · 04/07/2009 14:34

Nippa's are lastic hooky thing you use instead of pins

£165 is cheap, however if you think dc4 is going to be fairly large you can get 15 size 2's directly from tots bots for £82.50 they are technically seconds, i have had some and they are very good with usually minor stitching faults.

Scorps · 04/07/2009 14:36

Ah i see thanks, will look into that. I saw size ones in the flesh today in the shop, they look ok for up to my baby's 5th month (iirc my others...)I have tall skinny ones

Scorps · 04/07/2009 14:38

the offer is on the aplix (velcro?) ones btw.

twoclimbingboys · 04/07/2009 15:26

scorps - I would do as natty said and not buy all one type. I like a variety of side snap 2 parters, but DH will only ever use wonderoos (pockets). I sometimes like less absorbent but really slim fit nappies, ot sometimes bulkier more absorbent ones etc. It is just personal but I hate aplix - it catches things in the wash, looks old quicker than the nappy and Blake can undo tots bots aplix.

clothnappytree and ukparentslounge are good to look at for preloved nappies.

swampster · 04/07/2009 16:55

I love tiny nappies for tiny babies - for new bubs you can't really beat XS Sandy's and our very own lollipop is offering 18 here. Snap 'em up!

I wouldn't buy 15 size 1 tots though - I'd get a bunch of different ones to try out, including some pockets like BumGenius and a small Itti for best.

Scorps · 04/07/2009 17:32

ooooh i like the itti bitti's....

Are they good? The cost is fine.

Is 15 and 4 wraps the best number of anything to buy?

twoclimbingboys · 04/07/2009 18:06

If cost isn't an issue have a look at Upsy Daisy (their soy and pockets are lovely)and Wee Notions. I much prefer Bamboo sandys to the cotton version, but they never seem to come up preloved.

ellielou02 · 04/07/2009 20:08

Hi Thanks for all your suggestions for the night nappies I like the look of the baby beehinds, do you need a wrap for them co am sure I looked at them before and they looked much like an itti? They seem to have changed the design.

4andnotout · 04/07/2009 21:32

The baby beehinds hemp and bamboo need a wrap, i think they do a minkee all in one nappy now but i wouldn't think it would be suitable for nights.

Thanks 4

morocco · 04/07/2009 23:13

hello ladies, hope you don't mind me butting in, it'll be short and sweet seeing as my dd has potty trained so no more nappy obsession for me! anyhow, am now selling off my pocket nappies
www.photobox.co.uk/album/134889944 wraps, boosters, blah blah. I've stuck an add on mumsnet classifieds but not even sure how that works these days - been a long time since I've bought/sold on mumsnet. so if anyone is interested, give me a shout and I'll post prices etc
sorry to butt in on your chat, hope it is ok? very out of touch with etiquette on this

JennyPenny22 · 05/07/2009 11:32

back from camping, not much time to chat at the mo but have just read everything while BF.

Scorps - I have loads of size 1 nappies for sale if you are interested? Including tots bots, sandys, lollipop etc

Scorps · 05/07/2009 12:33

Well i bought the size one tots bots set (15 coloured nappies, 5 spotty/star wraps), and 2 itti bitti's (to try - one purple and one tiger print). All in all, £100 for 17 nappies.

Hoping size 2 won't be needed for 5/6 months (going by weight guides and previous children), at whichtime if we still like cloth will buy a size 2 set of whichever we like best by then

I like the idea that itti bitti's are just one piece, but the tots bots offer seemed too good.

Thankyou all, i can't wait to use them! Oh and i want to use fleece washable liners, how do i store dirty nappies until its washing time? I will get a bucket, but do you dry or wet pail, and how does it all work?

Scorps · 05/07/2009 12:34

Jenny - sorry i bought nappies before checking mn

BaronConker · 05/07/2009 16:38

Scorps - def dry pail, wet pails stink! You can get a mesh laundry bag to stick in your bucket, then you just lift the whole bag out and stick it in your washing machine when it's full. I keep my bucket outside the back door, but it doesn't really smell, i'm just worried the kids might drag the nappies out! some peeps put a couple of drops of tea tree oil in to combat niffs.
The coloured tots are lovely, they'll look so cute on a teeny baby!

Scorps · 05/07/2009 20:08

oh i love the sound of mesh bag, i don't care really about baby poo etc but dh is a bit more sqeamish

dd is 14 months, am considering getting the size 2 set of tots bots in that offer for her, so at least i am kind of trying it before baby.
