Who's doing a Phd in an arts subject?

Talk to me about doing a Phd when you've got a family please.

I'm thinking of planning to start in a year or so, but was also planning on ttc number two about that time.

How have you managed?

hi wastingmyeducation, i'm a phd student, although not in arts so i'm not much help. i think there are some art people about, although most of the phd students don't post daily (too much writing to do!). some may be along during the week!

also, have you seen our phd writing support thread (here)? perhaps you could post this there as well, more people may see it then

Do you think the experience of arts PhDs are entirely different? What kinds of arts in particular? I've just submitted in a different field - interdisciplinary humanities/science.

I shall have a look at the thread whiteflame, thank you.

I seem to have mostly noticed those with science or humanities Phds on Mumsnet and wanted to hear from arts Phd students in particular.
I know a couple of people doing arts Phds, but they are childless.

It'll be performance art/theatre/multi-media, and possibly 'practice-based'.
