Aargh! Night time wetness!

Youngest dd 3and a hlaf has been dry in the day for a year now, but night time is a completely different story.. She is still in a pull up and is absolutely soaked through by the morning - usually onto the sheets too. The other two (one ds one dd) were both dry at night by 3. We make sure she has a wee before bed and only has a little drink. I don't understand why she's so wet! Help..

My ds is 4 and the same! I thought he was getting there when we had 3 dry pull ups in a row in the mornings a few weeks ago and then things seemed to get worse!

until a hormone kicks in that supresses urine production during the night they will be wet

it can kick in at any age between 2 and 7 (and sometimes even later)

the fact that she is sooo set shows it hasnt kicked in yet and until it does there is really nothing you or she can do about getting dry

Can i suggest hippychick bed protectors though... they are great... wash and tumble dry well (are big enough to catch all the wee) can be easily removed and mean you dont have to strip the whole bed every day...

and if its in the middle of the night just remove the wet mat and sleep on the bed as usual

i change ds nappy when i go to bed his 4 always wet at that point then the new one is still nearly dry in morning but if i dont change it it's soaked through again im not overly worried as its hormonal not something you have control over it'll happen when his ready

also found nappies better than pull ups in night more absorbent

Hi. I'm new to this thread, but I have had enough of wet sheets too!! My DS is the same. soaked through nappies by the time I go to bed. often soaks the second one too by morning and they leak cuz I can only get pull ups big enough to fit, and they're not as absorbant, even size 6 pampers won't do up round his tum anymore. I'm finding Huggies Pyjama pants the best option for absorbancy right now.

DS is 5 and a half, but the size of an eight year old. He's too big to lift and impossible to wake up once he's asleep. Has anyone got any good ideas??

Monday we are seeing the local eneurisis (bed wetting clinic) and I hope they can get us some bigger nappies cuz I can't wash anymore sheets!!

they should be able to sort you out some nappies to fit if not could you try size 6 sainsbury's or tescos they seem to be generous with size although not sure if as big as your ds

Lauree, I buy Huggies pjyamapants age 4 - 7 and right next to them they sell a size 8+

Thanks for the advice... I'll let you know how I get on with the nhs, otherwise I'll have to find a supermarket with a wider range; at least I know they do the larger size now- my local doesn't stock large ones

My dd is 4.3 she came out of nappies at 21months but has never been dry at night after about 8months of being dry in the day she started wetting about 6 times a day we ended up having her reffered to a specialist.

Anyway the advice i wanted to share with you is that she was just dischared from outpatients the other week. she has had scans and investigations, she has stopped wetting in the day but is still soaked at night. I have been getting really concerned because she so wants to stop wearing pullups at night. However, the consultant said he sees it as normal as he sees sooooo many children the same age or older that have the same problem and grow out of it.

Like someone already mentioned it can be to do with a lack of hormone which will increase with time. The advise he gave me is that if she is still filling her pull up in the night with wee she is not ready to sleep without them, to try and reassure her that loads of children her age are the same and to not even attempt to get her out of them in the night until i see a significant differance (hardly any wee in pullup in morning)

He said that if i still see no change by the time she reaches 6 then i should go back to see the doctor.

Its so frustrating i know my dp and i were having to set alarms to get up 3 times a night to take her to the loo as she really wanted to wear pants, but she would still be wet in the night.

It was a big releif actually for the consultant to say it was normal and she SHOULD stay in pullups in the nights, takes the pressure off.xxxx

My DS, age 5 but very large for his age: about the size of an eight year old has been very wet every night: soaking three pairs of Huggies pyjama pants a night, which are the best I can find for him and still the sheets are wet.

we got a referral to the nhs eneurissis clinic, who have given us a load of super size nappies.

My goodness I think they would fit my father and he's 16 stone!!. they have plastic outerliners and they are particularly unattractive. I thought the horror factor might encourage DS to get dry overnight

BUT. The sheets are dry and
ALSO... DS LOVES them! ! children are very strange. he wanted to wear them to school. I wonder, do five year olds do irony or does he mean it??
