I feel like a cow. I told ds I'd sell his bike on Ebay this morning.

I was fed up of his moaning and whinging on the journey to school. He had to push the bike over a stretch of field (it was too bumpy to ride)and he was screaching and crying and whinging. He kicked it a bit too.
He was saying 'I never want to ride it again' blah, blah. So I said 'Ok I'll sell it on Ebay'

My friend then looked a bit shocked and was consolling ds. I felt terrible then!

He got quite upset about it. Before he went into school I sat him down, gave him a drink of water and told him I wouldn't sell it on Ebay.
I explained that because he hadn't rode to school for about 3 weeks he wasn't used to it and he would in time. I also said he needs to treat his things nicely and not cry and shout at me.
I gave him a kiss and he wasn't crying when he went in.

But all the way home I felt TERRIBLE.

oh god dont beat yourself up, I'm always threatening to give all our toys away to oxfam

I really don't think it was that evil!
If it makes you feel any better, I left one of the dts' scootwers in a public bin after their non stop whinging about pushing it, after begging to bring it. (it was old and had already bought a replacement, though he didn't know that at the time) It stopped the moaning!

DD1 told me yesterday that she wasn't going outside to play as it was boring and there was nothing to do. So I told her if that was the case then she clearly wasn't going to use her climbing frame. slide, sandpit, bike etc so I'd sell them. She went flying outside and had a great time after that. Sometimes they need reminding that they are lucky to have what they have (mine do, anyway).

I hate mornings - they are so stressful in my house!

It's my dd's birthday this weekend and this morning I shouted at her that because she was so naughty I was cancelling her birthday!

I am picturing him sad at school. But I'm sure he's fine and happy.

In the mornings the dc's are usually the ready ones. They are dressed, fed and brushed, it's me that is fussing around with my hair , make up, making us need to rush.

sounds like the updated version of 'if you dont tidy up im chucking all your toys in a black bag and throwing them in the bin'

I regularly threaten to put DS1's bike in the bin. At least once a week.

But do all your dc's cry and look truely upset at the threat?

When I threatened to throw a book in the bin if toddler DD didn't return it to her bookcase. She laughed and took the book to the bin herself !!! Lesson for mummy don't call her bluff LOL

That's nothing! I once told DS I was going to leave him sitting in the supermarket trolley and someone else could take him home!!

Since that time I have a stock of more humane threats ready (early bedtime, no pocket money, no crisps until after birthday sort of thing...)

I have threatened to throw toys away. and DS did cry . I felt awful!

However i must share this one:

When I was 12 I was round at a friend's house and got a phonecall from my Mum. "You had better come home now" is all she said in a calm (very scary) voice. I ran home trying to imagine what I had done and when I got there she ordered me into the garden where all the clothes and books and junk from my bedroom floor were spread all around the grass and dirty pants were in the pond ! She had thrown it all out of my bedroom window! "Clear it up and never leave your room in that state again" she said. You guessed it - I never did do it again!!

I threw the PS2 in the bin once (after checking if it was reasonably clean inside, and of course rescuing it later!!). DS did cry and still remembers the incidence a year later!

This morning the school run went loads better!

No bikes or scooters.

We all walked holding hands and chatting.

He was a bit sad going in though, because the teacher said I couldnt be a helper on the school trip. We only received the letter about the trip last night and told her I could help this morning. But she said that she has already sorted some mums to help. Ds was gutted!

Hehehe re all the threats - hysterical!! I have been known to tell my kids that if they don't behave I will take them to the 'baby shop' where a new mummy & daddy will buy them
