Hi. I took my DD's to the suffolk show yesterday. My DD (6yrs old) held a chick, now this stand wasnt brilliant as no one told her how to hold the chick and the chicks were tiny.

She held the chick really well but then it started to struggle and she just dropped it down to the ground. I felt awful, the man came and picked it up but by that time I had wisked DD off and I really had a go at her and now I feel so bad. I was upset she dropped the chick and she was upset she dropped it to but I did go into her.

Did I over react? I cant seem to control my temper sometimes, especially when I have them both with me.

Oh yes, been there! You probably wanted to have a gentle chat about thinking before acting etc but it came out as a rant, brought on by trying to control two small children in a crowded, stressful environment.

If you are snapping, you are probably under more strain than you realise so take a bit of time out for yourself to chill out. Hot bubble bath and a crappy novel does it for me.

I really do count to 10 sometimes to try to make sure that my reactions are cool, calm and collected but it doesn't always work! You are a lovely mum for being worried about this.
