boys weeing - stand-up /sit down

we are just moving on from the potty and DS is starting to sit down on the loo at home.
However if we are out it sometimes seems easier for him to stand up - is this going to confuse him?
Also, when he stands up his willy just seems to put down and wee on his clothes - how do i get around this?

we taught ds how to wee standing up by watching daddy ds hardly ever sat down if it meant me holding willy to wee in toilet thats what we did by 2 half he was holding and pointing himself

ds's (7 and 5) both wee sitting down at home and when they're out and about.

I used to feel very guilty about this - no male role model in the house and all that - until we had dinner with some friends a while ago who have 3 boys and we got to talking about it (as you do, over dinner...) and the husband insists they sit down to wee (and he does as well) 'cos it's a lot less messy - no accidents etc.

So, guilt over - ds's can wee sitting down for as long as they want to and we get to have a relatively clean bathroom!

So far it doesn't seem to be a problem for them at school and I think as they get older and start going to the gents on their own they'll probably have a go and get used to weeing standing up!

ds only saw daddy go few times rest was me standing him by toilet and pointing it in for him its quicker and easier my ds hates noisy toilets so to sit down took longer standing and weeing we were in and out of the toilets in no time so it was for our convenience we did this

Thanks for the thread, I was wondering if I should be helping DS to stand to wee. This sets my mind at rest I'll keep him sitting for the time being.
