Taking AGES to do poo on potty

DD (2.6) likes a good looooonnngg sit on the potty to do a poo. She will often sit for 20+ mins - longer if I will let her. She likes to sit with toys/books and is very happy there. Initially I was too, it is a great chance to get stuff done while she is sitting still in one place!

Sometimes I think she is just happy sitting there and playing. But often I will ask her if she is finised and she insists not and is usually right - there is more to come. She does also suffer from a bit of toddler diarrhea.

It is starting to worry me a bit and is frustrating when we need to get somewhere. Is this natural/OK?

I don't know but ds (2.9) spends ages too - at bedtime. For him I'm pretty sure it's a way of delaying going to bed. I used to read to him or let him play with stuff while on the toilet - he'll happily spend hours fiddling with the loo roll! - but have recently started saying 'Let's read that book (or whatever) when you've finished'... seems to help him concentrate. I don't hurry him along though, sort of feel that sometimes these things do take a bit of time!

DS did this too (although I was with him the whole time) and now is much more business like.
