My dgs 2.8 has been dry for a few weeks now and is in pants through the day.The problem is that he will only poo in pants or on floor. He has a 3month old baby brother and has had no problems with the baby at all.Shortly afte baby's birth he di a really huge poo in his potty and was very upset by this.He was then constipated for a week and had meds from doc which eventually sorted it but since then he wont even contemplate pooing in potty or toilet. No amount of bribery, praise or persuasion works at all.My dd is getting quite bothered and doesnt know how to resolve this problem so I wonderes if any of you could help.We would be so grateful.

Don't think i can help advice wise but can tell you what happened with ds.
My ds was dry from around 2.6 but never used a potty, we had a step up to toilet and he stood and did it. He refused to poo anywhere but in a pull up. He recognised the need to go and asked for a pull up. i put it on and he went behind the couch and did it.
When i spoke to my hv about it she said that many children are frightened to feel the poo dropping away from them, and the pull up etc keeps it close to them. She advised me to stick with it and not make any negative remarks. What i did was get one of those toilet inserts and explained to ds that when he was ready he could try and have a poo on the toilet like mummy and daddy. He continued to as for pull ups and i praised him for asking and put it on without comment. One day after a good few weeks he just came up to me and said "can i use that toilet thing for a poo". I nearly collapsed!!!
I suppose what i'm saying is, no fuss, going with the flow etc and it will come together eventually.
I really hope this helps a bit.
