Hiya,
Just logged onto my online gas/electricity account and since we've had the baby the electricity usage has shot up. Anyone else notice this? Can only assume its the washing machine being on a lot more, can't think what else it would be.
It must still be cheaper than buying all those disposables, mustn't it???

Is there anything else that has changed since you had the baby, i.e are you tumble drying things, or having the heating on more?

Our electricity bills went up after having ds1 because I was at home all the time (before kids both of us were out at work all day) so used more electricity during the day. Also we tended to have things like the light and tv on much later than we used to (oh those lovely nightfeeds) and it all added up. Also the amount of actual wash loads we did increased dramatically and not just because of the nappies. My dp has worked out how much it costs us to run a load in our machine and it works out way cheaper than disposibles for us.

we have massive elec/gas bill after baby born and were using disposables. for the first few weeks we were so worried about her being cold so had the heating on alot also our flat gets pretty cold.
also can only wear clothes once before having to wash again due to sick wee and poo, and then also all of babys clothes to wash too!
and as tutu said just generally being in the house alot more!

Yes, I guess I'm at home all the time and TV and computer etc on a lot more now than they would have been before I went on mat leave - hadn't thought of that. That makes me feel better, I had gone for washables as the long term cheap option and my heart leapt when I saw the new electricity bill.
Thanks, that makes me feel better because it would have gone up even if I was using disposables, phew!
