Feeling grumpy because my flexi tots are such poor quality. I loved them so, but what now?

I've been using flexitots full time on my 10 1/2 month old since he was around 5 months old. I bought 15 and within about a month I had to send 11 back because they were quite literally falling apart at the seams.

After waiting 3 weeks for totsbots to replace them I carried on using them full-time. Very happy with them overall, particularly that they're not too bulky so we dont ever have any problems with clothes fitting.

Now the inner lining is starting to go a bit bald on most of them. They get washed every two days at 40C, minimal washing powder, dry pailed, no softener or nappy sanitiser used, have never been tumble dried etc.

So now I need to return them, but do I get them exchanged again and hope for third time lucky or do I get my money back and find something else.

Suggestions for alternatives, positive stories about good quality flexitots or sympathetic general grumbles about them all welcome

That is really irritating. I don't have any flexitots.
I've heard a couple of stories about flexitots falling apart tbh. I hope tot bots are helpful about it.

I would go for something else. Their easifit is much better quality, and if you choose the bamboo option I think it will be a bit harder wearing.

Or request a money refund and try something completely different.

Thanks. Do you use the easyfit purplesal? I don't think I've come accross those before. Any other thoughts on the easyfit or other good alternatives to flexitots out there?

Bumgenius are really good. I had a couple of totsbots btp and was not impressed. BG have held their condition so far (only 6 mths use tho)

wiggletastic · 23/05/2009 11:43

I have used my flexitots for 7 months and had no problems at all with them. I have now bought some other nappies to try out and have found bumgenious very good and ittibittis are fab.

MoominMymbleandMy · 23/05/2009 12:22

I had bought a Flexitot to try when they came on the market and didn't use it much because I didn't really like it.

When I did use it frequently it went bald almost immediately. I had heard some of the original batch were made with defective bamboo velour so I contacted Totsbots and they replaced it.

But, having heard other stories like yours, I am a bit sceptical about the durability of Flexitots overall, so mine sits at the bottom of the nappy bag and never gets used.

I prefer two-part systems so I use TotsBots Bamboozles, and Motherease One Size, which are both going strong over months of hard use.

Bumgenius are nice but the cover pills and they have to be changed more frequently than two-part nappies.

Ive just sent back my flexitots too as they were falling apart.Am trying minki yoyo's now as a bridge to potty training as he's 2.Don't know what to use for newborn due in July.Have got a Tots pocket from babyshow & a bumgenius on order. If my flexitots fall apart again I might ask for pocket ones or bamboozles instead.
You'd have thought they would have tested them better what a shambles for a leading nappy manufacturer.

weepootle · 24/05/2009 21:04

mumface, I am using a variety of pockets and bumgenius are the best by miles - I never get leaks with them but I almost always get leaks with the new tots bots pockets, they look gorgeous though .

bitofadramaqueen · 25/05/2009 22:08

Thanks everyone. I think I might try and get a refund and try something else. Its just a PITA though as apart from the obvious quality issues I do really like the flexitots.

mumface I used bamboozles with ME wraps for the newborn to 6 month stage and they were fab. Never had a single leak and they were still in lovely condition when I stopped using them. I read some bad reviews of the stage 2's on here though which is why I went for flexitots.

I might give some pocket nappies a try for daytime. Am soooooooo envious of my brother as his DD just started potty training!

The Easifit is nice and easy to use and comes with lots of funky wraps. It's a BTP nappy which you don't really need. The outer isn't as nice feeling as Tots or Motherease or Bumenius wraps, but it's not too bad. Comes in either bamboo or microfibre inner. If yo can get your money back then maybe go for a differnt brand completely. I know taht's what I'd want to do - I would just feel that TB did not deserve my money after selling me 2 lots of faulty nappies. But if they will only give a credit note or exchange, then the Easifit are nice nappies.
