Any suggestions to combat dd's tangly hair?

We have tried conditioning shampoos and spray in detangler but still her hair is tangled. Any suggestions to make hair brushing less of an issue much appreciated!

Tangle Teaser is really good.
(Try gently separating the hair into small tresses with your fingers using LOADS of conditioner)

Plaiting the hair overnight can help with morning brushing.

I am going to whisper this as i don't wantanyone to kmow, but i used to use diluted fabric conditioner on dd hair, she had real fine hair and in the morning it used to just matt at the back like a birds nest, one jug of comfort, normal hair was restored

would second plaiting the hair

Brush her hair when she's in the shower/bath and her hair is wet and full of conditoner. Having the shower running seems to help the tangles come out. Once conditoner is rinsed out, towel dry and plait as others have suggested.

use a seperate shampoo and conditioner - never a 2 in 1.

You have to shop around to find the right conditioner for your DD (Dove or Pantene is good for DTDs).

Keep it trimmed regularly

Brush before bed - or better still - as has been suggested plait loosely before bed.

Brush from the bottom up.

Tangle teaser, plait over-night and in the day too if she'll let you!

I have just cut DD2's hair into a just above the shoulder length bob because the tangling was hell!
Still tangles but so much easier to deal with. Only problem is we can't braid it at all now.

I use this spray on DD's hair. DD is mixed race & this product is designed for Afro-Caribbean children, but I reckon it's fab and am sure it would work well on other hair types.

Even a regular light trim to sort out straggly ends can help when it comes toi tangles if you don't want to cut it all off.

You're not using kiddy shampoo are you? My hairdresser told me to stop and just use a normal basic one from the supermarket. Much better.

Oh yes.
Do not use a shamppoo designed for kids once they are past toddlerdom. I only use it on toddlers because of the sting factor. A good quality adult shampoo and conditioner is a must.

another vote for the Tangle Teaser brush. I got DD's in Tony & Guy's they are £10 but worth it, she even manages to use it herself very well (she's 6). She also likes to put her hair in to a ponytail at bedtime.

Have you tried a wide toothed comb, once the knots are out with that try using a fine toothed comb.
Also when shampooing the hair try not to rub it to hard so it tangles, and comb the conditioner through before rinsing.

Plaiting before bed is a great idea. We do this with dd1, otherwise her hair gets very tangled and takes ages to brush. Also gives her a nice wavy look =)

Only thing that worked with dd was getting her hair cut by a good stylist. It hasn't been anywhere near as tangled since.
