Holidaying with friends -and my screaming no-sleepers!

Going away with 3 other couples to a big shared house - all kids of a similar age (mine 3.5 and 15 months). Yesterday had a convo with my friend whose two are the same age and heard EXACTLY what I didnt want to hear- that her kids sleep all night in their beds and go to bed so easily , she just " puts them down and walks out".
I have never heard such an upsetting pice of information!!! Now I am pleased for her but my bedtime routine? shouting, coercing, then sometimes 40 mins of baby screaming... I do bedtimes alone and baby cannot cope with me leaving the room - which i have to either to deal with DD1 or to go in my room and burst into tears because I cant cope with having to stand there while she falls asleep (holding her hand) for a minute longer after the long day...
how can i spend a week with my friends without feeling totally insecure about my mad kids and my parenting .. and also not argue with DP the whole time?!!! This holiday sounded like fun when we booked it but now I am dreading it!!!!!!!
any ideas about how to deal with a screaming bedtime also appreciated. DD2 is the happiest thing all other times, just naps and bed are a real hellhole. I feel I am walking a thin line to insanity most days.

Well for one I would be glad that there will not be three sets of kids doing this, and other mum will probably be wondering how things will be, if you told her how your bed times go.

Personally I have learned that shouting and coercing etc doesn't really help. It is really hard to deal with especially at the end of the day when you are tired and it is the last thing you need. But you do have to calm the whole process down and establish a routine that will work for you as you need this regardless of the holiday.

I am sure others will post good advice on settling the two of them and advice on what might work for you.
