Best reusuables for a chunky wees-a-lot type

Have started a fresh thread for this, hope no one minds.

Dd is a big chunky baby (15 wks old, weighs 7.4kg) who wees a lot.

I really don't fancy anything too fiddly or expensive and it needs to be fairly quick drying (don't have a tumble dryer).

When it comes to being leak proof, which matters most, the nappy itself or the insert used? I.e is it best to get the best nappy you can afford so you will need less inserts, or get cheaper nappies but spend more on inserts?

I'm already on the list for the nappy library, but thought some MN's would have good advice too.

Thanks!

Just to add - Would having a tumble dryer would really make life a lot easier in terms of using cloth nappies? I do have plenty of airers and radiator space.

Of a day I use all of the below (& like them): fluffles, Ella's House Hemp, little lambs bamboo, Upsy Daisy Day nappies in soy (all of those are 2 parters), wonderoos (pockets), itti bitti d'lish (snap in one).

Of a night I use: fluffles, upsy daisy night nappies in soy, wee notions night notions.

I don't have a tumble drier either and it isn't a problem, especially as I have a lot of nappies. Fluffles dry the fastest but are very bulky under clothes. Hemp dries slowly.

Of the ones I use it is only wonderoos that need inserts - I would buy the ones specifically made for them. I also have to put boosters in the fluffles for overnight - esay peasy hemp boosters are very good and inexpensive (5 for £10 and free postage from easy peasy). Lots of people find wonderoos leaky but they are an ideal fit on big bummed babies, DS2 has never leaked from them even with explosive runs! Whereas, he is a bit too big bummed for ittis as he does have occasional poop leaks from them.
My favourite nappies at the moment are upsy daisy with upsy daisy wraps over them too. I have the soy and they are really lovely. Motherease Airflow wraps are also great.
