I feel like a crap parent. My 3 year old son would not get out of the car this morning when taking my other boys to school, so I left him in the car on a quite road oposite school for 2 mins whilst I dashed the others in to school as they were late, he was locked in the car with his seat belt on but managed to get out and ran towards me as I was going back to the car. I feel sick, he could of ran into the road, to make it worse I am a childminder (not working today) and would never in a million years leave a minded child in the car. As I was running back to the car this woman stopped and asked if I could have her little girl after school, I said I can't stop I just left my boy in the car and then he came running towards me crying, god knows what she thought.
I ran the kids into school and ran back, it was prob less then 2mins, and it was raining.

Poor you, it sound like you had a bad start this morning!

I would never recommand to leave your child on his own in the car but it does not look like you had much choice there, although, for another time, maybe take him out of the car even if he is screaming and kicking, especially if there is a chance thst he is going to escape.

I have seen people in your circumstances asking another parent to stay near there car while the mum takes her Dcs to school, to make sure nothing happens.

What is done is done and there is not much point beating yourself up. You do not sound like a negligent mum, more like one who had a bad morning, it does happen to most of us!

I hope the lady who asked you to take her Dd after school can see the bigger picture and not juste judge you on this morning's mishap!

oh shame that sort of thing does happen but now you know he can get out, it won't happen again will it? everyone makes mistakes!

asking someone to stand by car is a good idea. will he go in a buggy or too big?

We live and learn ... at least you won't do it again ...
