Is four much harder work if you already have three children?!

Perhaps this a silly question! Have recently had third DC and am already feeling broody for another one! We actually left a nearly 4 year gap between no. 2 and 3 because I didn't feel that we could cope with another sooner for various practical reasons. I thought that three would be my limit but for some reason, I just don't want her to be my last, exhausting as it is!!
My mother had 4 children and has said that 4 wasn't that much harder than 3. Is this true or am I crazy to think about it?! Oh, we don't have family help either and DH works v long hours in a responsible job so the childcare/ house is basically my job (as well as usually working part time).

depends on the age gap - my 4 dc's are all under 7. the 4th was only hard work because the middle two were terrible sleepers!

i think it also depends ont he individual temperament - no.4 was the most laid back lovely little baby ever - no.1 and no.3 were chaos!!

I was like you, I felt like somethign was missing until number 4 came along wouldnt' change anything for the world, I love my large family (although its not large by lots of other peoples standards adn I take my hat off to them!)

I don't find it harder than 3 either, but like ouch ds4 is really chilled and calm (or was until recently!).
The hardest bit IMO is sharing yourself around them. Aside from that, if you can cope with 3, having an extra one isn't a big deal.
I think having 4 the same sex helps with activities because it means we can all do stuff together as a family and everyone's pretty interested in the same things.
