how did anyone get over this hurdle with a ds? were on day 2 and generally he is a 2 poos a day boy - he hasnt had one since Friday tea time.

He did really well yesterday with only one tiny accudent just before bedtime. Today he has had one where he said it just as was happening and then one were i just saw him walking round like john wayne - both wee accidents. I am tired today and feeling defeated . I am also anxious as dont want to put him in pullups on wed when he goes to nursery as they wont take in pants till have had 3 dry days.

Re: nursery... lie. Part of their job is to help with potty training, not to derail it. For poo, just pop him on the loo and sit with him with a few books/puzzles and be patient. If you sit there for about half an hour, he'll probably squeeze one out. (Talk about what he's supposed to do and that it's okay and that you and his dad do it on the loo too and that you'll just wait with him until he's managed.)

My boy has pood on the toilet!!!!!!!!!!! Yesterday was near disaster contemplating throwing in the towel - today we have had no wee accidents and a poo!! i sat him onthe loo and read mr bump to him then left him with the book while i put the kettle on - he was rambling to himself but the smell told me all i needed to know! I am so proud. I have prompted all his wees so i suppose i need to see if he can prompt me now. I dont approve of reading on the loo lol but hey whatever it takes!

What's wrong with reading on the loo? It's much better than teaching them to strain so that they end up with piles at some stage in their life.

your right - i just dont approve when dh reads on the loo for half an hr to shirk his jobs

I get DH back by running in before him to do a wee. It angers him but I'm sick of having to cross my legs for sometimes up to an hour, especially when it's bed time! My DS is much quicker now than he was when he started potty training.
