I think i have started potty training - i say think as im tempted to back out ..... ds is 2½ and left to run bottom of he will go to the potty and before bed i will sit him on the toilet and he will wee. So he finished nursery tongight and had a poo so rather than put a clean nappy on (4pm) i left his bootoms off - i asked if he wanted pants on and he kept saying no and when i asked if he wanted a wee he kept saying no and generally being uncooperative - i left him to play naked botty style and watch tv then at 5.30 he said potty and ran to it and did a great big wee - i went for a wee at 6.30 (i know you dont really need to know about my own movements )and he followed me and pointed to toilet and asking for his seat to be put on whereby he priduced a trickle. Bedtime has been now and i sat him on upstairs b4 putting on his nappy ad he did a token trickle. I guess this is it - the end of my real nappies... now advise - in the morning - big boys pants or just a top and nakedness? Not planning on going anywhere really or out in the garden till mid morning......

Anyone else playing potty training hell? We also need 3 dry days before nursery accept him in pants which is wednesday.... no pressure then . ALso in all our times of potty wees he has never produced a browny - any advice welcomed....

Big boy pants if you have them - otherwise just top and nakedness. The pants are a great way of getting him used to the idea of having to pull stuff down before weeing.

My DS1 (now 3) started potty training over Easter - pretty good with the wees but useless with poos (just one in the potty so far - the rest of the time he waits for his night time nappy to produce a poo - driving me crazy but apparently a very common phase, especially for little boys, to have trouble pooing in loo or on potty)

DS1 never poos in his pants - only in nappies at night times. Very laundry conscious that way

I would try him in pants to see if he can still get himself to the potty... IME they are always less likely to wet when naked, as underwear feels a bit too 'secure', IYGWIM, and they forget they need to use the potty/toilet

nappy - if nappy dry at naptime for a week go nappy free (and invest in a bedmat)

he wouldnt entertain a nappy at naptime so i laid him on a towel - gone in now and he asleep and he has chucked towel on the floor - suspect i will have to get im to the loo quick when he wakes!
