We have this game made my Orchard Toys but we have lost the instructions and cannot work out how to play it. I have googled but no luck. Does anyone have it and can help?
It looks really fun but it is very frustrating having to make it up.
Thank you in advance.

We have this I think. It's in dd's wardrobe, so will check tomorrow if instructions are still in the box. It's a long time since we played it, so I can't remember how it works.

Okay, assuming you have it made up...

Place the ball in the giants hands.
Each person has a Jack.
Take it in turns to shake the dice.

  • If you have a number, climb that number of branches on the beanstalk.
  • If it is blank you miss the go.
  • If it is the giant then the person who rolled the dice presses the button on the giants head. This will cause the ball to go down the inside of the beanstalk, and the beanstalk will also turn around, potentially knocking one or more of the Jacks off their respective branch. If this happens that person has to start again.
When you get to the top of the beanstalk take a counter and start again. First person to climb the beanstalk three times wins (obviously, depending on the age and ability of the child, we started by going up once)

If you need help making it up, say, cos I can help there as well

(DS, now 7, has had this game for about 3 years and loves it)

Thank you - that's a different game LRB though. I am very grateful.
Ours has a spinner, some shapes in a feely bag, cards and you seem to make 1 giant beanstalk.

Oh, gah. See, when you said about making it up, you have to construct the beanstalk . I didn't keep the box so didn't know who it was made by, assumed it was the same game . Still, its a fantastic game if anyone wants it... backs away from thread before she digs herself any deeper, makes note to check games before posting in future

Right, have dug out the instructions. Sorry it's taken so long!

Object : to be first player to match correct shapes with all their shape cards and help Jack escape the giant.

To play : The bottom of the beanstalk card is placed in the centre of the table. Top of beanstalk is set to one side. Other beanstalk pieces placed face down in a pile.

Shape pieces placed in bag.

Shape cards shuffled, 3 dealt to each player. Players place shape cards face up in front of them.

Youngest player pulls one of shapes out of bag, without looking in bag.

If shape matches one of their shape pictures, they put the shape on top and take a piece of the beanstalk from the top of pile and join it to end of beanstalk.

If shape doesn't match, it's returned to bag.

Bag is passed to next player.

Play continues until one player has matched shapes with all their shape cards. They then spin the spinner.

If the spinner points to the giant, all players call out 'Fee Fie Fo Fum!' and the player must wait til their next go to spin again.

If the spinner points to jack, the giant is asleep and Jack can escape with the golden hen. The player then adds the top piece to the beanstalk to win.

Hope that's the right game this time! Enjoy!

Thank you so much - I am so grateful. That is exactly the right game. There is no way I would have remembered that or made it up by myself. Thank you x
LRB - please don't worry, your game sounds fab and it had the same name!
