6 week old baby suspeted reflux / colic, help!! Changing Milk???

Hiya All,

Our little man is on SMA Gold after breastfeeding took a very quick nose dive!

He's always brought up milk after his feed when being winded and often brings up milk about an hour or so after his feed too. He seems to gripe in pain and cry and it's often hard to bring any wind up at all.

We phoned MW on the labour ward (as advised) when he was 4 weeks odl and she said to try infacol but under no circumstance to change his milk. We've tried infacol to no avail and HV came out yesterday and asked Dr to prescribe Infant Gaviscon - which they did. Yesterday went great with no sicky incidents but today it's back to normal and the poor little mand has just had his biggest scky episode to date which resulted in him choking because of the amount brought up.

HV said if Gaviscon did not work to change his milk to Aptamil Easy Digest or Cow and Gate Comfort.

Any ideas / suggestions, experiences?? It's becoming really upsetting my dd (now 5) used to be sick every now and then but nothing like ths!

Many thanks

xx

Could you try a cranial osteopath to help with the reflux? My DS2 suffered alot from trapped wind/reflux like symptoms in the first few weeks and the cranial osteopath helped lots. Dont know where you are based but the Osteopathic Centre for Children in London (Farringdon) is a charity and you pay what you can afford (though waiting times for an appointment are ridiculous) and apparently the British School of Osteopathy runs baby clinics too.

The reflux will improve as his digestive system gets better. If the gaviscon isnt doing the trick, go back to the doctor to see if they can prescribe anything else to help.

Hello my ds is 4 months and we had him on cow and gate comfort for his relux-more silent than sick.
We found it fantastic and it really did the job.
ds also had terrible trapped wind and we were advised to use infacol and Dentinox colic by our phamacist and i has worked fantastically.
Just be aware with comfort you need to make it with very hot water to able it to mix properly and use a fast flow teat as it so thick.
HTH.
