bloody pingu, my dc used to do that stupid noise instead of speak. I ended up hiding the dvd.

I think they do make sense, the characters communicate but without using conventional speech. Just like small children.

I think they're horrible but my DD does watch in the night garden and absolutely LOVES it. I'm not going to rain on her parade!

MY DS2 used to watch Pingu and Teletubbies back when he had very little language. They were a god send

Isn't it so they can be sold to lots of different countries without the problem and expense of translation?

Surely it gives them an understanding of context, visual clues, tone, body language etc? My GCSE English teacher showed us Pingu once, for these very reasons.
