Frilly baby pants

I've been helping my sister in law with the christening arrangements for her DD next month. She's been looking around for girls pretty frilly baby pants for the occasion, but they need to be waterproof to go over a terry nappy. There don't seem to be any around. There are loads on eBay, but none with a plastic lining, most are a cotton or similar material, ok to go over a disp.nappy. The obvious answer is to use a disp. on the day, but SIL is a reusable nappy fiend! I've suggested putting plain plastic pants over the terry to do the job, and some cotton knickers over the top, but that could be a bit bulky. Any suggestions?

What about getting her an embroidered nappy to mark the occasion? My DD had some embroidered Wonderoos saying things like 'my first Christmas' or 'Happy 1st Birthday'.
Some places like Minki might make a super pink frilly one with a christening picture on, e.g www.minkinappies.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=114&osCsid=fa0eeb9357ed126ed3d9c596ff21f6 04

Thanks for the ideas, but how do you waterproof her bottom?

Can you not put a wrap over the terry nappy as she would normally do and then put on some knickers?

The Minki nappies are all in ones or pocket nappies so the outer covering is already waterproofed (under the outer layer). They are a bit like pampers but with material over the waterproof bit, that is the bit they'd embroider.

You can get frilly knickers in Mothercare that are lightweight cotton. They make them in all sizes. Or just buy her packet of eco-disposables like NatureBabycare and stick soome frilly knickers over the top!

Yes, but she thought it would'nt look so good, and be a bit bulky.

I think I saw some in Matalan today, (my kids are older, so didnt really pay much attention to them )

small independent/local shops are usually good for this kind of thing.

twoclimbingboys · 27/04/2009 22:59

They make nappy wraps with frills on here too I think

Thanks everyone. Some of those fancy wraps, like the ones from weenotions are fairly expensive, like up to £25, and I'm not sure SIL will want to afford that. We'll keep looking around.

£12.50 for the Friller wrap.
