Demanding 8 mth old

I have an 8mth old dd who I am finding really hard work atm. For the past 4 days she has been waking 5-6 times a night, last night she would not go down. She also cries alot and hardly sleeps in the day. I think she is probably teething but nothing (calpol, powders etc) seem to make any difference. I am finding it hard to get anything done, I also have a 2.7 yr ds to cope with. She is not crawling yet and can only sit for a limited period so I end up carrying her everywhere. She won't go to anyone but me or dp (sometimes only me). She is bf and I'm starting to feel really run-down and tired. She can also be quite sicky. Don't want to sound like I'm moaning but has anyone had a baby like this, please tell me it gets better as I'm at my wits end. How can I encourage her to do more maybe?

Yes it gets better.

My ds's are 4 and just about 3 now and I had times when both were teething or one waking for feeds and the other teething... oh those nights I just went from cot to cotbed and back again...

Don't worry about trying to get things done. I've only just started having a relatively straight house again!

Your baby is frustrated that she can't move about yet - do you have or can you borrow one of those things that they stand up in and have activities all round them (not a baby walker, the things I'm thinking of stayed still). Ds2 loved 'standing' in one of those and ds1 would be able to play with him instead of just sitting on him!
