Loose bowels & teething

I know there is disagreement as to whether teething can cause this but I'm pretty sure that's what's happening to DS - 9-10 dirty nappies a day for 14 days, lots of drooling and stuffing things in mouth

No other problems and DR says he's fine. sooo.... can anyone suggest how long this might last? It's not a major issue other than the force of bowel movements waking him at night! And the inevitable nappy rash

Gosh, that does sound like a lot. Did your doc take a sample of ds's stools? Just to be sure there isn't any little infection somewhere?

Ashton & Parsons Infants' Powder is good. The label says.....
Ashton & parsons Infants's powders are intended to soothe the child, check stomach disorders, correct the motions, relieve restlessness, fretfullness, and similar troubles incidental to the teething period.

I find Metanium nappy rash cream to work the best, one days application at every nappy change does the trick here. Don't get it on your clothes or hands though. It stains. I rub it in with the clean nappy

Agree with littleboyblue, that's a lot of nappies. All my dcs had stinky nappies with teething but if it persists I would check with gp as that could be down to a bit of a bug. Try and change the nappy as soon as it's soiled to prevent the contact with the skin - and lots of warm baths with no baby bath to soothe and clean the skin between nappies.
I've used Metanium too but Sudocrem is also magic stuff
As far as how long it lasts, usually only a few days if teething troubles.

{I lied littleboyblue - I haven't skipped off to do my chores yet...but will now.....)

FrankMustard Me too!! Although ds1 is awake, so wo't be long before ds2 is awake..........

(littleboyblue - see t'other thread for lulu's plans)

Sorry to hijack OP - stick with it and as long as the bowels aren't loose for much longer you can probably put it down to teething.

Yes, girlafraid, I always give things like this about 3 days. If still bad after 3 days, I'd be back at docs.

a huge very very thick layer of either vaseline or zinc and caster oil should stop most of the nappy rash. but i do agree teething does seem to cause loose bowels but have you changed or added any foods???
