How long do the baby blues usually last??

My friend has just had DD3. She is 2 weeks and 5 days old. She's still bursting into tears randomly and she says she can't remember it lasting this long with the others. TBH neither could I so wanted to check if it was normal or if it might be the start of PND.

I had baby blues with both my DCs. First time it was consistently bad for 4 weeks and much better by 5.5 weeks; second time the first two weeks were ropey and I had 3 acute attacks (for want of a better word - all day in tears, loathing my DD, unable to sleep, eat etc) at 2 weeks, 4 weeks and 6 weeks. By 7 weeks had really turned a corner. It could be the start of PND but it would be too early to diagnose it unless she is in crisis of course - wanting to harm herself or something similar. It sounds completely normal. I hope she starts to feel better soon.

Ah it's good to know it can last up to 6 weeks and is probably entirely normal.
