Is 16mo too early to try potty training?

DD has started telling us when she needs a new nappy and when she has done a poo. Is this a sign that she is ready and which we should be picking up on? I wasn't expecting potty training for another 8-12 months. Help.

Yes, much too early. Just carry on with nappies, but tell her she's a clever girl for telling you.

It's being able to tell you reliably BEFORE she pees or poos that's a sign of being ready.

Phew. Thank you - I was getting every so slightly anxious for a day or two there! She is delighted with herself, saying 'poh, poh' and then 'nana' (nappy), so I guess she's just letting me know when she needs a new one. I'll think about starting when she's letting me know beforehand. Is what I was thinking about right then? Try training around 2yrs old or so?
