Visible Veins in head and chest

My DS is 16 months old and I am currently waiting for an appointment from my health visitor as I have questions related to his slow development (not walking yet, still very wobbly and talking, only saying mama). Also, he has been head banging before he goes to sleep on a night, during the night and just started when he has a tantrum.

This evening, when DH was bathing and dressing him for bed, he noticed that the veins in his head which have always been a little visible are now really prominent and the veins in his chest have become really visible too. Is this normal??

Obviously, I will bring this up at my appointment but I don't know when that will be yet.

TIA

For what it's worth, my DD is the same age (actually, a few weeks older) and not walking yet and loves to head bang. If I were worried though about development I would do exactly what you do and make an appt to see a HV- sounds v. sensible.

On the veins, if you are worried go and see your GP- MNetters probably won't be able to diagnose it for you TBH and would need to see your DS in RL. Many adults have veins which stick out- my DH's are very prominent, for example. I wonder if it was because your DS was hot after his bath?- wonder if it will look the same in the morning?

Sending reassuring vibes- it's horrible to worry about everything.

They were not so bad this morning. His veins are always a little visible but he doesn't have a lot of weight on him so I always assumed that was why you could see them more. They are back to normal now but last night they looked like a map, especially on his chest.
