Ok im about to phone one (got number in a shops front window)

• What do i ask?
• Should I ask to meet her beforehand?
• Is it cheeky to ask for availability for next saturday eve or not enough notice?

meet her first - absolutely

ask her for 2 names and numbers of people she has baby sat for in the past and call them before you make any plans to use her

what about travelling expenses? we're in london.

I wouldn't pay expenses for what is essentially a job interview

or do you mean if you use her?

I would also ask if she has a criminal bureau records check (cbr). Some people may have one of these already through the work they are doing.

Not saying if she doesn't have one don't employ her but you could ask anyhow.
