My poor little DS has just fallen and cut his lip

Fell against the corner of his wooden bus (he's 14 months) and cried and cried - cut his top lip from the inside and as far as I can tell he hasn't broken any teeth.

I was just going over to him to pick him up for his nap, and arrived 2 seconds too late - poor little soul - it looks really sore.

What do to? Gave him a big cuddle and rocked him, then gave him some milk which he drank. SLeeping now but I'm wondering what I should do next - when do I worry (even more)? What would you do now?

He seems to have a lot of scrapes when he's very tired.

Ahh my ds cuts his lip all the time. He was around 14mo when he first did it but it was a very nasty cut that he tends to re cut everytime he falls over! Now him bleeding from the lip has very little effect on me - not in an awful parent way tho!

You sound like you have done everything right, not really much else you can do but lots of cuddles.

Thank you mumof2andabit - bless you in fact! Have been feeling like the worst mum in the world - was such a shock to see the blood.

Have been checking on him napping every 10 minutes or so and he seems content, can't see any signs of swelling yet. I just wish I could open his mouth when he sleeps to see the full horror!

ds did this loads. First time wasn't too bad, and after an inital cry he was fine. The second time there was blood everywhere....when i finally got to look at his mouth it was the tiniest cut......one time i was a bit more worried because he wouldn't eat at his next meal, he was obviously quite sore.
My ds nearly always did this when he was tired, i guess his balance/judgement wasn't as good then.
Like Mumof2andabit you get a little immune to it and can can distinguish between when they are really hurt and when it's just another scrape.
Ds is nearly 4 now and last Sunday he banged his head on our bedframe (exuberant bouncing), fell over a friends dog and banged his nose, tripped twice while out with the dogs and skinned his knees, and walked into the wing mirror on dp's car because he wasn't looking where he was going. I have a day like that about every two months, he seems to save it up and do it all in one day

Thank you again! And queenrollo - you must have nerves of steel by now! I guess I have all that to look forward to, especially when he's running about.

Will start to practice being more zen about it - I definitely need the practice.
