What to do about 22 month old climbing up to the top bunk.............

DS3 has recently gone into a bed (the bottom bunk) and is sleeping well in it. However, he's taken to climbing up to DS2's bed on the top. It's vertical ladder and very high. Previously this had just been him climbing up in the mornings to play. But last night he climbed up straight after I put him to bed I put him in his bed and he fell asleep.

However later on DS2 woke up and was yelling for a glass of water - waking DS3 up. I went and sorte DS2 out and DS3 got out of bed when I left the room and whinged for a bit. But then he went quiet so I left it.

However this morning I discovered that he'd gone quiet after he'd scaled the ladder and climbed into bed with DS2 and fallen asleep there for the rest of the night

How on earth do I solve this one?

Can you take the ladder off?

We took ours off after DS2 repetedly getting up there to hurt DS1, we just lift DS1 into bed now ad it also gives him a place to go to get away from DS2's violent tantrums.

Can't take the ladder of as DS2 won't be able to get out to go and use the toilet/get up to get ready for school in the mornings when he wakes up (we leave DS3 to sleep for as long as possible before waking him up)

I just let ds2 get on with it. He doesn't do it anymore (will be 2 on Easter Monday) but he used to climb in with ds1 then fall asleep and call for me if he wanted to get down. I decided to stop worrying about it and just let him get on with it, but put cushions on the floor just in case! Admittedly we do have a mid-sleeper rather than full height one.

I have a full height one.

Perhaps I should just put the cushions down on the floor (not that DS3 will actually leave them where I put them LOL) and hope for the best

DS2 didn't seem too bothered by it.

oh gawd - further discussion with DS2 has revealed

a) that DS3 actually kept him awake last night when he got into his bed so he was actually bothered by it.

b) He (DS3) didn't use the ladder to get up there - he climbed up the end of it over the high bit
