Where do you start with higher education, finances, student loans, etc?

I have never done any sort of higher education. I have just decided to start training as a Veterinary Nurse and have looked into it a lot - first you have to get a vet surgery to hire you as a student nurse, then you can enter the training programme. What I was wondering is, where you start with getting finance in place? Is there any help available? There is a course I would love to do that would give me a great advantage over other people competing against me for jobs etc but it is about £500 and I havent got that. Then when I get a job as a student nurse, how do I pay for all the schooling from then?

I am worried because I am married and a SAHM I wont be eligible for financial support, but me and DH cant afford it all still. How do you get student loans?

would you be able to get a bursary or sponsorship from your prospective employer? I know for some training such as the last stages of solicitor training, some companies to fund it/part of it, in return for a certain amount of loyalty ie you have to work there for 2 years afterwards or pay it back. Is this an option?

It might be, I am not sure. I have sent off letters to 10 vets looking for a job as a Student Nurse so hopefully when I hear back from some of them I can find out if they do that & actually will ask the BVNA as well if this is usually possible.

This is what my daughter is hoping to do

Have you tried contacting the veterinary college where you hope to study? I'm sure they'll be able to tell you how it all works and they will have information on any grants or bursaries available. Good luck with finding a placement
