Help me with a name for my Spanish kids club

I'm setting up a Spanish after-school club with La Jolie Ronde and hopefully in the local village hall too. But whilst I'm really organised and can speak Spanish fluently , I'm rubbish at thinking of cool catchy names. Any suggestions?

I know next to no Spanish but I would suggest that, if this is aimed at non-native speakers of spanish, it should be something fairly cliched that the target (ie presumably mainly British) market identify with Spain and the Spanish, without it being racist.

Something like "Club la cucaracha", even simpler like "Hola!" - sorry, don't know how to do upside down exclamation marks, "Que tal?" (ditto question marks" ... Obviously, you will come up with something loads better than this as your Spanish is, unlike mine, actually good, but I don't think my method is a bad one of going about things ...

How about
Veo Veo (aka I spy...)
Raton sin cola
Los Pitufos
Caracolitos
Club el arcoiris
Los girasoles

onebatmother · 01/04/2009 21:28

I was going to say Hola too. My kids (non-speaking) can say it really authentically and it's short and sharp. Also immediately illustrates the 'different letter sounds in different languages' idea with the silent aitch.

I also really like Club la cucaracha but imagine if the parents went home and googled it!

Why would they? they've been singing the song their whole lives without having a bloody clue what it means. "Oh, la cucaracha," they'll say. "Like that song. Always wondered what that meant. Ought to look it up, I suppose. Ho hum. Oh, look - corrie's starting."

If anyone does, tell them it's affectionate.

Why not just keep to La Jolie Ronde Spanish for Children?

La Jolie Ronde is very well known and add's a brand awareness and clout so to speak.

Shitemum · 03/04/2009 22:28

chicaguapa · 06/04/2009 20:24

Hello. I've not started yet. I plan to start it up in Sept when DS starts YR. I'm excited about it though. There seem to be a number of threads on mumsnet about it though. Still not decided on the name...

Chicaguapa - sorry another question about LJR. Im seriously doing my homework and am considering taking this up as I can fit it around school hours.

What information can you give me another them - are they helpful when you ring up?

Shitemum · 10/04/2009 23:44

dietqueen - I was considering doing Spanish for kids with LJR.
After contacting them throught the website they arranged a good time and called me up (in Spain!). They were helpful and answered all my questions, we talked for about 1/2 an hour.

Gita22 · 17/04/2009 21:16

Hello,
It is not easy...
I quite like: "Hola, que tal?", "Veo Veo".
"La cucaracha" NOOOOOOOOOO, who likes those creatures??? I know the song is very catchy, but if you think about the actual animal... brrrrr!!!
What about: "El Parque", "Arcoiris", "Hip Hip Hurra!" or something to do with pets, something soft, or something colorful...

crazytown · 19/04/2009 21:13

I would 2nd the La Jolie Ronde Spanish for kids as its so well knownc
