Pants or nappies during day time nap?

We have been having pants for about a week now, ups and downs but I think he is getting the hang of it. I've been putting a nappy on him while he has his nap. Is this ok or is it better to keep the pants on?

The way his 'nap' works is I just put him in his room and shut the door and he either plays or sleeps for an hour or so, it's up to him if he gets in bed and sleeps. I'm thinking it might be best to stick with the nappy until he grows out of the 'nap' time, I can't see another practical solution. Any thoughts?

For the first few weeks I used a nappy but now just leave him in pants. Although I put him in bed or the buggy for a sleep.
