17 weeks and still not sleeping through. Help!

DS1 and 2 started sleeping through at 8weeksish. DS3 is 17 weeks and still waking 1-2 times a night for a feed. I am shattered. As well as having to get up and feed him, ds2 has ASD so thinks that as we are up, he can get up as well. We are all suffering.

Please help! I've tried everything!

I think, unfortunately, that you were probably just bloody lucky with your first 2 and now you have the same bog standard night feeding baby the rest of us have. I feel for ou though, it must be rough when it disturbs the others. (also shattered with 13 week old dd and sleep walking/night terror/falling out of new big bed 2 year old!)

They are all different, and not sleeping through at 17 weeks is very normal.

Not a lot you can do about it I'm afraid, just make the wake - feed time shorter. Is DS3 in with you ?

Hate to say this, but you were lucky with the first two. DD2 is 6 months old and has only just stopped feeding in the middle of the night - DD1 stopped about the same time and to be honest, there are plenty of people I know whose children continued to feed in the night for much longer.

How about doing a dream feed at about 11.00pm? Makes it more likely they'll get through until about 5-6am the next morning and gives you about 6 hours straight sleep (if you're lucky!)

I agree with Indith. You were very lucky with your first two. Not sleeping at 17 weeks is very normal. Have you tried giving a dreamfeed when you go to bed?

I agree that you have been incredibly lucky so far with your older sons' sleep. My ds1 didn't sleep through til 14 months and ds2 until 2 years.

Every sympathy to you - I used to feel sick with tiredness on a daily basis.

I hate to say it but my youngest never slept through til he was 13 months.

I was in shock because his older siblings slept through from 8 weeks old. I did nothing different with him, it was just 3rd time lucky.

Debated whether adding that my dd didn't sleep through until she was about 10 months old would just heap more misery on.

She was my first dc though and ds slept through from about 6 months which felt blissful in comparison. And she has been a brilliant sleeper ever since, too.

So third time is a charm then

Thanks for the replies. I've tried dreamfeeding, the little monkey darling still wakes for another feed if I do this.

my third doesn't usually sleep through the night yet. he's 3 [sigh]

My DS still wakes up to 5 times a night and he is 2.3 . Lately he has started waking just once and its like all my Christmas's have come at once. I have another DD, I work and I'm pg. Hard isn't it!

It's very normal to still need milk at night time at 17 weeks. There's not much you can do about that.

Do you have help during the day? Can you catch up on sleep then? Get someone to help you with your other children?

Sympathies, I know how hard it is.

Sadly, get no help during the day and can't get any sleep. Am surviving on about 5 hours sleep now.

DS2 goes to playgroup 5 mornings a week, but ds3 (the baby) has 30 mins nap if I'm lucky. He only sleeps well when we are out in his pram

I think you were very lucky with the first ones!! All mine took 2 years.

Can you go to bed for an hour or so when your dp comes home? That's what I do, the girls go to bed at 7/30pm, then dh comes in, I give him the baby, and go to bed for an hour or myself before it's time for the baby to go to bed. He's nearly six months and currently waking 2 or 3 times a night.

Now I've got over my jealousy about your first two can I suggest a bedtime of 8.30pm for a bit?

My 2.10 year old is still getting there. He's been nearly sleeping through for over a year but we still have plenty of nights where five hours sleep is good. That's when I fail to go to bed before 9pm ...

ds2 is 4 and sleeps through a few times a week
ds3 is 6 months and now ehere near sleeping through
i get 4 ish hours of broken sleep

DD is 5 and still doesnt sleep through......never has!!
DS is 1 and has slept through since 6 months, its the luck of the draw I'm afraid

I assumed that at 17 weeks he should be sleeping through as my first two did.

I'd love to b able to go to bed when DH gets home from work, but by then I'm wide awake, typical!

lumme, wish my DS would sleep through more than once in a blue moon and he's 15.5mo!

Do you co-sleep? It is the one thing that saved my sanity in the first few years when they woke loads every night!!

I misread your post as 17 months at first.

Which is when, if I was really lucky, one of my 3 might sleep through.
