3 yr olds - when did yours drop afternoon nap and stop wearing nappies at night?

My DS has just turned 3 and still takes a late morning or early afternoon nap of around an hour. He finds it difficult to get through the day without it. I'm wondering how much longer he might need a nap for?

Also he wears nappy pants at night but am wondering when to start trying without them and "lifting" him at 10.30pm to put him opn the loo - any tips?

Dropped naps at about 2.6 I think. he just started not going to sleep at bedtime for ages so we figured he needed to drop the nap.

Dry at night at 2.8 - a week after being dry in the day. Don't know how - just happened so we ditched the nappies after a few nights of waking up in the morning with a dry nappy. Think that's quite unusual especially for a boy. He doesn't drink that much fluid so that might have helped (although probably not healthy in other ways)!

dd will be 3 next month and still has afternoon naps occasionally poss 3 times a week max, and those are limited to 30 mins or she won't sleep at night.

she has been dry dayand night at 22 months.

ds stopped napping at 2 and half roughly and was dry by day and night about 22 months

Both my dds dropped their daytime naps at 18mths - nightmare! I was sooo envious of friends whose dcs carried on napping until about 3.

Both also potty trained about 2-2.3yrs and were dry at night the same time as they were dry in the day. Think this is unusual though, lots of friends had dcs in night time nappies for up to a year after they were dry during the day.

DD dropped her naps around the time she turned 2.

She went into reuseable night pants at about 3y and stopped wearing them around 4y. However she still wasn't consistently dry and had an accident a week IIRR. We had reuseable bed mats instead that went on top of her sheet. her accidents decreaed greatly over the weeks but she is pretty much only now reliably dry at night and she is almost 7y. She was very eager to be dry at night and had beend ry during the day from 24 months.

DD dropped her daytime nap the second i became pregnant with ds at 21 months.

She was dry at 2 and out of night time nappies at 2.5.

Ds is 22 months and shows no interest in either dropping naps or in the potty so imagine he will do both late.

DD is 3.6. Hasn't had daytime naps since about 20 months or so. Was out of nappies at night time last Easter so was about 2.7.

I would love it if DD had naps still

Ds is 3.5 and dropped his daytime nap a few weeks after turned 2 (I was distraught!). If sleeps in day now he's still bouncing round his bedroom at 10 pm.

Potty trained in day a month before he turned 3 and still in nappies at night. He only has the odd dry one in morning every now and then so I'm in no rush to start that.

Too long ago to remember exactly

but,

both had dropped their daytime nap well before 3yrs and would not sleep at night if they did fall asleep in the car fro example. (if they still sleep at night, continue the nap - lucky you)

ds potty trained at 2 1/2yrs, was out of night nappies after his 5th birthday (he suddenly just managed dry nights).

dd potty trained just after 2yrs, out of night nappies a few months later.

Didn't do anything different with either of them.

I don't believe in lifting as I just think it trains the brain to keep weeing when asleep. Just wait until they are ready.

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/03/2009 10:52

3.5 sleeps gen 1.5/2hrs in pm and then does 12hrs at night

still in napppies at night, tho been dry through day almost a year

at night he just isnt ready to be nappyless, have tried lifting, stopping drinks etc, but nappy always soggy and if no nappy then wet bed
