Advice please, have ds approaching 2 therefore birthday presents on horizon - what garden toys do you recommend? Garden's not massive. Slide not really a goer as he is quite tall therefore has nearly outgrown those first slide things. Water/sand table? Trampoline? TIA!

Sand pit has always been very popular here -just make sure you get one that keeps the rain out (ie. not one of those blue shell shaped ones)

Ds has spent the past few days stealing my watering can, washing his gardening tools in a pound shop paddling pool, pusing his ride on car around and taking his fisher price pull along dog for walks in a trolley like this if that helps

DS is 2.5 and he loves watering cans, his little car and ride-on tractor, and digging in his sandpit.

Small square trampoline with a handle. Sorry, can't remember where it came from! A big hit with my 2 DSs, and still gets used (they are 5 and 8)

Something like this with boats and stuff?

DD got this for her second birthday and played lots with it, as did her 4 year old brother.

chunky pull along tractor with a tipping trailer. has provided hours of solo entertainment as boy puts stone in trailer, takes tractor for a walk, tips stones out, puts stones in, repeat .....

sazzerbear · 25/03/2009 17:05

brilliant, thank you!

Football, wheelbarrow, big stick (I kid you not, it will provide hours of fun!!) collapsible tent in the summer - ELC do them, likewise fabric type tunnel, trampoline with handle, sand/water table, bouncy spacehopper thing, bubble machine, binoculars for birdwatching, bug collecting set or even gardening stuff so he can plant some seeds and water them.

Thanks biffandchip, you sound like the voice of experience here!!

hi, my ds loves the little tikes coupe car even though our garden is not very big. It was 2nd hand probably 10years old and still going strong... now part of role play as ds nearly 4 and even the visiting 6/7 yr olds squeeze in for a play.. other fave is small paddling pool with play balls in....
