What wrap shall I try for a prefold nappy?

Am using prefolds and folded terry as main nappies for ds2 as I can't get my fitteds dry fast enough (why did I buy bamboo!).

Currently I'm using cotton bottoms wraps, but these aren't a particularly good fit on him and they are wicking at the bindings even if I change him every couple of hours.

I was thinking of trying a motherease rikki, but they weren't any good on ds1 which puts me off a bit, but ds2 is completly different shape so maybe they will work better.

I have already tried and not had success with bambino mio, junior joy, cotton bottoms/tommee tippee, kushies.

Nature Babies wraps - Brilliant - have a leak guard, and plenty of room for prefolds or any other sort of nappy!

Nature Babies Wraps

Prorap from ebay have worked brilliantly for us since we gave up on bambino mio.

if you want newborn ones you can buy ours we are about to list in the next week and save us a job

Rikki are really good - try a bummis cover maybe - important to get one that fits over all types of nappy. Lollipop newborn velcro are good too.

I have only used nature babies stuffables and not really got on with them - should try a cover!

Forgot to say I have also tried the proraps. They are ok, but I found that they to only lasted for about 2 nappies before the leg bindings were too wet for me to keep using them and I do change pretty frequently, but thanks for your offer ByThePowerOfGreyskull. Also ds2 has long been out of the newborn size despite only being 15 weeks we are already into the mediums!

Quidditch are those nature babies a tight enough fit to hold a prefold in place even with poppers? They look lovely and I am a sucker for nice patterns, but I have only used applix nappies with prefolds before.

Octo I think I probably will get a rikki and maybe a nature babies one aswell and then see which I like more before being anymore.

tutu I don't use the same wrap twice back to back, I have the wraps and prefolds set up on the shelf in the nursery and change as if it was a disposable, I then leave the wrap to dry before putting a new prefold into the wrap. (hth)

That works does it? I will give it a go then. I didn't know if the wrap would be really horrible (maybe smell) if I did that.

With ds1 I used shaped nappies and airflow wraps so I'm not used the the bindings getting wet at all because the nappy never touched them.

You sound very organised ByThePowerOfGreyskull. I'm normally faffing around looking for clean wraps/nappies whilst ds2 wees on the floor. I shall try and assemble as many wraps and nappies as I can tomorrow and see how I get on alternating the wraps.

Tutu - we also used Nature Babies - when ds went up into a larger size I even got them to add an extra popper at the waist as ds was always slim waisted. Yes, they are great for prefolds - and we also used them over tots bots as well.

tutu100 · 22/03/2009 17:04

did you have the classic or the multi wrap? Multiwrap sounds like it might be better for us a ds2 has a very long body and a problem with his bowel so his stomach is quite big and often distended and the multiwrap are supposed to be good for chunkier babies.

We use Motherease Airflow with tots bots for ds and have never had a leak. The tots bots wraps are rubbish though so I would avoid them

ChairmumMiaow · 22/03/2009 17:18

We use popolini wraps. They're generally excellent even with some flat nappies that fit really badly (were given to us). DS is very chunky and used the bigger sizes quickly but is doing well in the larges at 14mo.

mistlethrush · 22/03/2009 18:34

Yes, we had the multiwraps - very adjustable with all the various poppers - less bulky at the front too which can help.
