Should my kids have baths / showers more frequently ?

My 8 year old son's class had a talk from the school nurse today about personal hygene. He brought home a leaflet that says he should try to have a bath / shower at least once a day.

Now I don't think that my kids are particularly smelly, but the 8 year olds only have a shower once a week - plus one at the pool after swimming. My 12 year old does shower 3 or 4 times a week.

Am I consigning my family to a life of being thought of as smelly little urchins, or is once a week adequate at their age ?

I daren't ask other Mums in the playground what they do in case they're horrified at how filthy they think we (or rather my kids - I'm a daily bather) are.

Not really sure but mine all have a shower every day and they are 8, 3 & 2.

I hate not having a shower every day - i feel dirty so they have always had the same and it always helped with the to bed routine

My kids are bath/showered every other day - 8 & 3 me and hubby bath daily(seperately) except this last week as we are getting new bathroom and tilers have let us down so now we are running to grandparent to shower/bath - kids have only been bath once this week - 8 yo it loving it but DD 3 has been asking to get a bath more often, if we don't get another tiler she may have to get use to it!

at least once a day seems overkill. To me once a week is a minimum. My boys (3y and 6y) vary between daily (if I want to wind them down and get them to bed early) and once/twice a week if we are busy.

Have a talk back to the school nurse about water conservation.

I'm (fairly) serious.
