How much should I sell stuff for at NCT nearly new sale?

I am selling stuff at an NCT sale next month and I've never been to one before so I've no idea how much to ask for things.

In particular I have a number of new baby outfits which still have tags, and maternity clothes that have hardly been worn. Can anyone give any guidance please?

Honestly, if you don't want to bring them home then price things as low as possible. OUrs is a very big sale so there is a lot of stuff for people to choose from. Baby outfits, even new, rearely go for more than £2. The most I have sold maternity clothes for was £5, but they were new and still in shops. Other maternity wear never seems to sell for much more than a few pounds. NCT sales are a brilliant way to have a clear out but ime, you will not make a fortune there even if you have lovely stuff.

Everything at my last nearly new sale was dirt cheap - brilliant for me but I did wonder whether it was worth the effort for the sellers. Price things low, sell on ebay of you want a decent price.

Definitely eBay if you want a good return. A baby outfit from Next, Baby Gap etc will sell for a couple of pounds at an NCT sale. Anything from Tesco or Asda wouldn't go for more than a £1 if you're lucky. The only thing you can make good money on is equipment. Having said that, I used to make about £30 at each sale by selling loads of stuff really cheap - vests bagged up as job lots, etc. They're definitely worth doing if you just want rid of the stuff.

If you do NCT stuff, I'd recommend putting stuff on hangers - at ours the tables tend to be overflowing and I can never find anything so don't tend to bother to look, whereas stuff on hangers is much more accessible. If you want to do bundles, put big stitches through to hold them together. Also make sure the price labels won't fall off (I'd stich or safety pin them to clothes - the ones that are selotaped tend to fall off before the sale has even started...)

The other option is to look for NCT table-top sales - they're more like internal car-boot sales, and because you're there you can haggle with the buyers.

At the last NCT sale I went to, the average price was:

50p vests; £1.50 T-shirts (but there was someone flogging Boden T-shirts for £4); dresses £2; really good outfits £3ish; maternity clothes in v. good condition £3 or £4; books 50p or £1; genuine gro-bags £7; toys mostly £1 or £2. There was a fair amount of haggling going on too.

The sellers seemed happy because they were selling an awful lot of stuff, very quick, without hassle. If you add on not just the baby clothes but also other baby related paraphenalia that you want to sell, then it might be worth your while taking a table. But if your stuff is very high quality eg. the new baby outfits with tags then I think e-Bay might be the way to go.

There was someone trying to flog pretty bog-standard T-shirts for £3.50- I saw them packing up at the end and they were taking a lot of stuff home.
