Has anyone used an Amby Nature's Nest?

I've seen this on the internet, where baby appears to be held snug in a 'nest' suspended from what looks similar to a budgie cage stand(!)and bounces his/herself to sleep if wakes up as hung by a spring. Does it work? And does it matter that baby doesn't look to be lying completely flat?

Oooh oooh, I was completely sold by their website and reviews on other sites, so bought a gently used one on ebay. However, I've got 24 weeks to go so can't answer about using it! Would love to hear opinions too.

I loved it and used it for my Ds until he was nearly one. Might have been a fluke but he slept so well in it and it is really good at helping them to settle back to sleep in the night as it bounces as they move. It's really good when you are away from home too as you can take it with you!

Buy one - I can't say enough about them. My DS had one until he was one and slept so well in it. No worries about them sleeping on their backs (cot death risk) and they sleep slightly curved as if they were still in your womb. If they stir in the night, you can push it gently and it will move and rock so baby goes back to sleep.

I am convinced that this helped my DS to be sleeping through the night from 7pm to 7am by 4 months old. My sister and friend also had one and they had the same success with getting their babies sleeping through the night.

They also come with a carry bag, so easy for going away for a weekend.

They also sell really well on Ebay once you have finished with them. I bought mine (new) for £150 and sold it on Ebay for £110.

I was so excited about putting dc3 in his, thinking that finally I would be blessed with a sleeping baby for at least part of the night...but he does not like it! Argh!

I thought the rocking motion would be fantastic, but it seems to startle him rather than sooth - if he shifts slightly it moves and tends to wake him up rather than settle him back down....

He's 12 weeks now and I have resorted to a combination of co-sleeping and putting him in the bassinet part of the travel cot...sigh

Might try him in it again though, it's been a while.

However, judging by the responses here, it could be a good buy for you - and even if it doesn't work out the resell value will be good on ebay so you wouldn't really lose out too much

(just have somewhere else to sleep on standby just-in-case

I had one for DD, they are GENIUS!!! She suffered with silent reflux and couldn't tolerate being laid flat, the nature's nest was great because you could raise the head end as much as you needed. It definitely makes babies feel more snug and secure.

Unfortunately I sold mine and am now expecting another so may have to invest in one again!!

I have an almost 8lb 6wk old daughter, been trying the Amby Baby Nest on and off since she was born.
Am I missing something? because whenever we put her in it her head which is the heaviest thing about her ends up weighing the rest of the sling/hammock thing down...so she's lying with her head lower than her body.
Tried placing her at the top end of the mattress and in the middle.
Any tips would be appreciated.

ascouser, it's a while since I used one, but make sure you've got it put together level (gathering the hammock into the coat-hangery bit correctly). I used to velcro the mattress in slightly to the back of the hammock rather than dead centre, to brace the head end better.

Feet-to-foot upsets the balance, you may have found, and head-to-top does invert as you say. Go for centre as best you can. By morning my DD would be in a little heap at the foot end, but she didn't seem to mind.

I used one with my DD, was fab and she slept through quite early, finally had to get her out of it at 11mo when the stitching gave way and she fell out . (I don't think it was a design fault, DS used to spin round on it when DH was left in charge)

Thank you NoBiggy - a restless night followed after my posting but trying again tonight and have placed in the centre so will see how that goes. She was quite happy to lie in it today awake whilst I took a shower. No murmurs so far after 30mins.
SmallShips....LOL..not at your DD falling you understand but at the thought of small child spinning round in it.
