Slimfit reuseable nappies?

ChocOrange05 · 11/03/2009 13:52

Hi all

I am currently using a nappy laundry service which uses the Tots Bots Bamboozles and Bambineo nappies - I like the Bamboozles the best and have no problems with them except they are a bit bulky. My boy looks like he has a big bum

I am thinking about buying my own instead of using the laundry service and was wondering if there are any slimmer fitting ones that are similar, or as good as, the Bamboozles?

Thanks!

Bumgenious pocket nappies are very good for being slim fitting, and they are onesize so you only need the one set. They are more expensive than some of the cheapy ones though but they are good. Added bonus of pockets is that you can add more or less padding depending on how much absorbancy you want.

How about trying an all-in-one like a BumGenius or Itti BittiD'Lish or a Tots Bots Easyfit? Or one of each and throw in a Blueberry Minky BTP (hook and loop fastening) for good measure? After that you will be well and truly hooked!

I would say the Motherease Ones Size Bamboo are slimmer fitting than the bamboozle/bambinex. However most reasuables will leave you with "big bum syndrome"

Bambinex are slimmer than bamboozles and I recommend nippa fitting over velcro stuff.

X-posted with you, soon!

Any two part system will leave you big-bummed - All-in-ones/pockets are where it's at. Itti Bittis are probably the slimmest and fuzziest nappies the world has ever seen.

4andnotout · 11/03/2009 15:03

Flexitots are slim fitting, i like them and a blueberry wrap. Itti bittis are lush as are blueberry onesize and the coloured easyfits (the white are a bit plain imho)

Quidditch · 11/03/2009 17:30

P'tits dessous mini-maxi pocket is really slim fitting with the PD flexible bamboo insert. Just about the slimmest fitting nappy I've found at all. It's a bit like a fuzzibunz, but one-size, and it really DOES go through to potty! The flexible bamboo insert is amazingly slim fitting, but quick drying for bamboo.

Now I am lost!!

So if money were no option (as if that were ever the case!) would the BumGenius birth to potty or Itti BittiD'Lish be best?? Or shall I just get some of each?

but itti bitti d'lish are actually quite economical - as you have to remember that for £13 you are getting both the 'nappy' and the 'wrap' as the coloured bit is waterproof (yet fluffy, that's the genious of them!). the 'wrap' - outer coloured bit - can be used with another set of inners if it's not wet or got poo on. I have 7 full nappies and 6 extra sets of inners and that does me for washing every 2 days - so it really is economical!

swampster · 11/03/2009 19:08

If money wasn't an issue I'd have nothing but Blueberry Minkies! I lie - I love trying different nappies so I'd have even more loads of nappies than I already do. I'm currently having a love-in with some Greenkids Minkytimes...

swampster · 11/03/2009 19:10

I found Ittis didn't last very long on a power-peeing 2 1/2 year old - much better on a wee baby. But I do adore them.

ChocOrange05 · 11/03/2009 19:13

I never knew there was so much choice!! I think I might buy a couple of each. I have to do it now as I just cancelled my nappy laundry service! eek - more washing for me

Nappy gurus where is the best place to buy these?? Is there a particularly good (read cheap ) website?

Oooh those blueberry minkys look fab!!!

I'm currently using 2-part: Sandys + Motherease airflow wrap as dd is a bit small for one-size I think.

Are the blueberrys still slim fitting on an 8lb baby? (the smallest you can use from).

swampster · 11/03/2009 19:25

I'm using Blueberries on a 7lb scrap of a baby but with a BumGenius insert cause the Blueberry ones make it them a bit big. They aren't the slimmest (that award goes to the Ittis) but they are utterly lush!

weepootle · 11/03/2009 19:30

Thanks swampster, think I need to try some, though dd2 isn't yet 7lb.

How about the bum genious- are they very bulky? I do like the look of them.

ChocOrange05 · 11/03/2009 19:30

Right - I have just bought 2 Itti;s, 2 BumGenius and 2 Blueberry Minky's. I shall try them all and then buy a few more of my favourite.

Gosh how times have changed - I used to spend my bonus on handbags and shoes and now its nappies not sure this new life is as rewarding for my wardrobe!!

I like your style, ChocOrange!

I've found BumGenius fit pretty well, weepootle. I was given a dozen (hooray for great pressies!) and they are the backbone of my rapidly expanding stash.

When I first used cloth nappies five years ago I never found an AIO/pocket nappy that didn't leak. I love all the new nappies around now - I am waaaaaaay too lazy for two parters! (except for at night).

weepootle · 11/03/2009 19:39

ChocOrange, that's exactly what I was thinking of doing! Can I ask where you bought them from?

swampster · 11/03/2009 19:40

Oh, and BGs come with two microfibre inserts - I tend to use the small newborn ones in the day and the bigger ones at night. Or if I'm anticipating a longer stretch between changes. It means I can spread the BG inserts between the other nappies while DS3 is still so tiny.

ChocOrange05 · 11/03/2009 20:24

weepootle I bought the Itti's and BumGenius from here (free P&P if you spend over £50) and got the Blueberrys from this eBay shop.

Thanks CO.

weepootle · 18/03/2009 16:29

Well, pockets are definitely the way ahead for me!

The itti bittis are just gorgeous and so slim it's amazing. We're onto the BumGenius today which I adore as well, even those aren't too bulky on my almost-7lb-dd.

I haven't tried the Blueberry yet but think that may be the bulkiest of the 3.

Although the itti bittis are probably my favourite, the BG win by being birth to potty so I'm going to buy more of these with a few more ittis for when I want a slimmer fit.

How are you getting on ChocOrange?

ChocOrange05 · 18/03/2009 17:43

I LOVE the itti bitti's but they are really leaking at the sides, it seems to be coming out of the side at the bottom because my DS's legs are too skinny . I'm not sure what to do apart from changing them more often (currently every 3-4hrs).

Didn't you think the BumGenius looked big then? I thought they looked huge compared to the Itti's. The Blueberry's are bigger but then I figure they will look better (more in proportion) when he's older???
