She is really finding it hard to come to terms with. Her Mum is also suffering and is struggling to look after her Dad.

Does anyone know of any forums or site where she can chat to people who are going through this?

No, but am looking into this as I worry my mother is going that way. I found a quite amazing book by Oliver James really interesting and from memory it's got lots of contacts in the back. It's called 'Contented Dementia'. Talks a lot about how it feels to be a carer and how to cope, so might be good for your friend's mother. I'd say tell her to read it first though, and see what she thinks before giving it to her mum. I haven't given it to my father yet as I don't think we're at that stage yet and it's a lot for a carer to take in. Well worth a look though.
