Has anyone had real problems potty training ? I am finding it so stressful - we waited til he was 3 and a bit thinking he'd be quick and we are still trying (started 3rd Jan !) Actually did the unthinkable today and put him back in a nappy as am finding it so stressful and he is picking up on that and now denying when he's wet himself and not letting me change him !! We were doing quite well a few weeks ago and had nearly no accidents when at home - but then went on holiday and have since gone downhill !! Any helpful suggestions please.

I potty trained my ds in October as he turned 3 and it went reasonably well. Still had the odd dribble accident but nothing much to speak of. However, I got really relaxed about reminding him all the time plus my grandad died on Feb 13th. It's been very stressful since then (and due to circumstances will probably continue to be for some time) and he went back to wetting himself quite alot. He seems fine in every other way but he's obviously picking up on it. Anyhow, I've gone right back to basics with sticker charts and a small treat after 10 stickers and he's getting much better (only a couple of accidents in last week). Could be worth restarting with the attitude you had in the very beginning (that's presuming you are like me and had started to relax!). Good luck.

thanks for the advice I know you are right about staying relaxed - that is the key i think. We started off today in a nappy then went onto pants as he said he wanted to give it a go. But have just picked him up from pre-sch and he had 3 accidents - they told me he is not ready and to go back to nappies !! Very frustrating ! So I plan to have a few weeks in nappies while we both de-stress and forget about it for a while - then give it another go - with stickers etc !! I think if someone had told me it was going to take ages from the start i'd have coped better - I was under the silly impression we'd be able to do it in a week or two !! Nevermind !
