My son thinks pants are nappies - help me

My ds is 2.10 yo and we have been gently potty training for a few months. He loves to wee in the potty as long as we keep him completely undressed from waist down but as soon as we put pants on him he just goes back to wetting himself, no attempt to get to the potty. He also refuses to poo in the potty at all (has only done it about half a dozen times in the past four months) and I am getting so tired of it. Any ideas? We have tried sticker charts and treats and I have (desperately at times) kept calm through every accident.

Had a similar situation with DS who was still soiling his pants 4 months before starting primary school . I managed to get a copy of a book called 'Olie Sends Pooh Home to Pooh Land' from my HV. I was very sceptical but after reading it to him a few times something just clicked in his head. The morning he came running up the stairs sat on the loo and did a pooh was a very proud mummy moment!!

I let them run around commando in easy up and down track pants with no undies/training pants as those seem to feel too much like nappies to them. It worked for DS1 and is working for DS2.

Thanks - I'll see if I can get hold of the Ollie book and try trousers with no pants for a while.

Anyone else?
