Talking of word counts - what do you include?

to do my word count I copy and paste the whole thing and then delete everything I don't need to count, then I do the word count

being very careful to have made a back up copy, as cutting and pasting on the real thing is not recommended. I lost a large chunk that way the first time I did it!

Katy it seems that guidelines vary.

This would explain why I'm sure that they do count towards the word limit - because they do on my course and why purepurple is certain that they don't - because they don't in hers.

Sorry to be so pedantic but wouldn't like you to submit something and have marks deducted for being over! Is that likely? Thats what they do with us...

my tutor said on wednesday that she is not going to sit there and count words!!

"Executive summaries, diagrams, drawings in-text references and reference lists are excluded from the word count, but tables are included in the word count. Please record the number of words you have used excluding diagrams, drawings and reference lists, by using the ?Word Count? tool."
